MTRCB on Transformers

The box office hit movie Transformers should have a PG-13 rate from MTRCB before it gets the General Patronage rating in the Philippines.

Movie goers are not aware of what the movie went through when MTRCB board member Edmund Sicam gave his individual report giving the classification of Parental Guidance – 13 on the movie.

According to him, PG-13 was given due to the one-time use of the word “masturbation” in the original copy which is not for a G classification.

However, after the conference was convened, a proposal was made of voluntary deleting or bleeping the said word.

Two of the remaining board members gave a G rate subject to checking and requires a re-screening of the movie.

After Sicam heard about the classification, he then withdrew his individual report with his signature from the committee report.

Rod Strunk’s Death: An Accident According to his Sister

After news spread about Rod Strunk’s death, his sister Sharry Grove told the Tracy Press that commiting suicide was something his brother Rod wouldn’t have done.

According to her, Rod has been into many tough situations but suicide never came into his mind.She said that there’s a tentative plan of a memorial service on July 29 at Good Shepherd Church in Tracy.

From the investigation made by Detective Dean Hicks, a woman reported finding Strunk’s body on the ground but nobody saw him falling. Strunk seems to hit the pavement.

No suicide note was found but they (the investigators) saw a chair placed against the wall with his shoe prints which indicate that Strunk was standing on it right before he went over the wall.

Nida Blanca’s Husband, Rod Strunk Found Dead

Roger “Rod” Strunk, Nida Blanca’s Husband who was indicted of killing his wife (Nida) six years ago, was found dead by a woman at the parking lot of an inn at Tracy, California.

Strunk was charged in the Philippines with parricade along with four principal suspects in the killing of Dorothy Jones also known as the actress Nida Blanca. The Actress was found dead inside her car on November 7, 2001 with 13 stab wounds to the head and chest.

Tracy Police Department reported that the 68 years old Strunk apparently jumped from the 2nd floor balcony of the inn as it found evidence indicating that he committed suicide.

Mayor Fred Lim Refused Rosales as Manila Police Chief

Newly elected Manila Mayor Fred Lim disallow the move of President Arroyo of assigning director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales as chief of Manila Police District on current MPD director Senior Superintendent Danilo Abarzosa’s position.

According to Lim, Abarzosa should not be replaced for he’s doing a good job. He’s been satisfied with his performance on the anti-drug campaign, particularly the raid on the drug den in Intramuros and the demolition of “Little Vietnam” in Quiapo.

Lim was apparently surprised by the sudden announcement of PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon that effective Wednesday Rosales will be designated as officer-in-charge (OIC) of MPD while Abarzosa was selected as the new superintendent of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) based in Silang, Cavite.

Rosales is known as strict disciplinarian which matches Mayor Fred Lim’s method of dealing with criminals and drug pushers.

Beware: SMFund Scam

SMFund is said to be another ponzi scheme luring people to invest their money and in return paid by money raised from subsequent investors instead of profits gained from real business.

Investors are required to provide a minimum of $10 for the said deal and will then generate a two percent interest on investment.

The Security and Exchange Commission will now sue the six undisclosed names implicated in this scam. They were said to be posting ads on Baguio newspaper about SMFund scheme.

In the statement expressed by SM Investments Corp., they warned the public that they are not endorsing the said scheme on websites and they are not even connected and is not responsible to the contents of the SMFund.com or sminvestment.com websites.

SM Investment lawyer said that the company will file charge of trademark infringement against the administrators of SMFund.

Today is Friday and also the 13th day of the month. Therefore, today is Friday the 13th.

Friday the 13th is believed and considered as bad luck. This superstitious belief exists from different traditions and different parts of the world.

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia. The fear of number 13 is called triskaidekaphobia.

This fear of Friday the 13th affects the life of a number of people. Thinking that this will bring them bad luck. Others are afraid to get up from bed, go out, do some hard work, or even use sharp objects to avoid mishaps.

For others, it is just one of those days and nothing to be afraid of. But there’s nothing wrong if we try to be careful in whatever we do.

Voltron the Movie: Coming Soon on 2008

Many 80’s favorites are now coming back from TV series to movie.

After the big hit movie Transformers now comes Voltron which is known for its tagline “defender of the universe”

Voltron is a giant mecha robot formed by five (5) (later became six) lion robots controlled by young pilots.

This mecha robot was first featured on the 80’s animated television series based on two Japanese anime series GoLion and Dairugger XV produced by Toei Animation and Bandai.

There were three variations: Lion Voltron (Voltron of the Far Universe), Vehicle Voltron (Voltron of the Near Universe), and Gladiator Voltron (Voltron of the Middle Universe).

And now, in 2008, we are about to see another animated cartoon series turned into movie. Leaving us some questions in mind. Will it be better than Transformers? What variations are they going to use? What twist are they going to add in the movie? Well, its for us to wait and see.
